God’s Plan for a Post-Flood World (Genesis 8:20-9:7)

Sermon Notes:

Main idea: In Genesis 8:20-9:7 we see what life after the flood looks like so that we will praise God for his good gifts and do the good work of producing and protecting life.

  1. SOME THINGS OLD:

    a. Worship is still the priority. (v. 8:20)

    b. Depravity is still the problem (v. 8:21)

    c. Multiplication is still the plan (vv. 9:1, 7)

    d. Man’s life is still precious (v. 9:6)

  2. SOME THINGS NEW:

    a. New Promises (vv. 8:21-22)

    i. He will never curse the ground again. (v. 8:21)

    ii. He will never strike down all the living again (v. 8:21)

    iii. He will never cause seasons to cease again until the end (v. 8:22)

    b. New Provisions (vv. 9:2-7)

    i. Fear upon creatures (v. 9:2)

    ii. Food for mankind. (vv. 9:3-4)

    iii. Full reckoning for bloodshed. (vv. 9:5-7)

  3. SOME THINGS FOR US TO DO:

    a. Praise God

    b. Produce Life

    c. Protect Life
