My wife and I didn't do Christmas presents this year. It wasn't because we were sticking it to the American consumeristic holiday but rather we had enough going on with a baby due. We figured it would be less stressful, less to worry about, and let's face it, we both had procrastinated. We woke up for Christmas and opened nothing but the refrigerator. Thank God for parents though, my mom and dad blessed me with a gift card! So, a few days later I had the consumeristic itch and I wanted to scratch it.

Starbucks, Sermon Writing, and Salvation

Recently, I have been spending quite a bit of my "office hours" in my spacious, heavily-trafficked, and (at times) noisy office... Starbucks. It is true, my actual office is a mere stone's throw away from this so-called office that I so graciously share with all who open the door. It is also true that I do not have to wait for a table or the restroom, that it is quiet, and that the draft from a constantly opening door does't bother me when I am at my office, yet I am drawn to this location more often than not.

Seven Certainties from the Gospel According to Luke

1. Certainty For Our Faith.

In the beginning of his Gospel Luke identifies the reason for his writing.  He tells his friend Theophilus that he writes, “That you may have certainty concerning the things you have been taught.” (Luke 1:4)  Most of us struggle at times with doubt and uncertainty regarding our faith.  Immersing ourselves again in the Gospels refreshes our faith as we walk with Jesus and witness again his life, teachings and miracles.

Who does God want you to reach with the Gospel?

A Question About Giving

At our information meeting the question was brought up whether we would teach tithing or free will offering. Here's our answer: 

We believe that it is the joy and sacrificial responsibility of Christians to be generous givers of finances, time, and skills, for the benefit of the church family and the blessing of our local community. The New Testament does not command an amount of money for Christians to give, but rather holds up a mirror for us to examine the attitude of our hearts in regards to giving:
