Day Four: Focus on the Father of Lights (Genesis 1:14-19)

Main idea: The fourth day of creation helps us answer three important questions about the sun, moon, and stars so that when we look at them, we will see, think, and do, what God wants us to.

  1. What does God want you to see?

    a. His Handiwork

    i. Things that have a creator (v.14)

    ii. Things that have a location (v.14)

    iii. Things that have a purpose (v.14-18)

    1) To shine

    2) To separate

    3) To sign

    iv. Things that have a birthday (v.19)

  2. What does God want you to think?

    a. About the goodness of his creation (v.18)

    b. About the greatness of his power (v.16)

    c. About the glory of his promises (Jer 31:35, 33:19, Mal 4:2)

  3. What does God want you to do?

    a. Thank him (Rom 1:21)

    b. Praise him (Rom 1:25)

    c. Shine for him (Phil 2:14)
