Main idea: If we are ignorant of the serpent and his schemes we will be easily outwitted, deceived and led astray from pure devotion to Christ.

1. Don’t be Ignorant of the Serpent

   a. The Serpent’s Presence (v. 1)

   b. The Serpent’s Power (v.1)

   c. The Serpent’s Posture (vv. 1-5)

2. Don’t be Ignorant of His Schemes

   a. Distorts the word of God to raise doubt (v. 1)

   b. Denies the word of God to relieve fear (v. 4)

   c. Deceives the people of God to maximize appeal (v. 5)
